Just recently, a tragic incident occurred where a streamer was murdered by a viewer who had donated a staggering $70,000. This event has sparked debates and discussions, with some prominent streamers like Asmongold and Tectone advocating for a ban on viewers who send excessive amounts. However, MoistCr1TiKaL has taken a different approach, making it nearly impossible for fans to spend their money on him.
In a recent YouTube video, MoistCr1TiKaL explained his decision to disable super chats, channel memberships, and even increase the minimum Bit donation on Twitch to an amount he hopes is too high for anyone to consider. He wants to strongly discourage his viewers from wasting their hard-earned cash on him.
"I can't get rid of subscriptions, but if I could, I would. I want to make it clear: don't waste your money on subscribing to me. There are other, more worthwhile ways to spend your money," he stated.
Asmongold, in a similar move, had streamed exclusively on a non-partnered account to avoid viewers getting ads. However, Twitch's frustration over lost revenue led to Asmongold being forced to monetize his channel. MoistCr1TiKaL, on the other hand, wants his viewers to hold onto their money, especially given the current economic climate.
"I think it's crucial that you take control of your finances. Don't let your money go to waste by donating it to me. I'd rather you keep it or donate it to a good cause," he urged.
For those viewers who still want to spend their money, MoistCr1TiKaL suggests donating to charity instead. He believes that contributing to charitable causes would be a far better use of their funds.
"There are so many amazing charities doing incredible work. Your money could make a real difference there. It's not about me; it's about making a positive impact," he emphasized.
MoistCr1TiKaL's decision to completely remove the option to donate has been a long time coming. He admits that he had convinced himself that he could provide value to paying viewers, but now he realizes that it's not worth it.
"I feel like I'm finally doing the right thing. It's been a while coming, but I needed to make this change. I don't think giving money during a stream to get my attention is a good use of anyone's money."
