Tennessee Basketball's Recruiting Success Story: Adding Three-Star Point Guard Marquis Clark
Tennessee Basketball is on a roll with its recent recruiting success. The team has secured the commitment of three-star Chicago point guard Marquis Clark, who is ranked No. 281 nationally in the Rivals Industry Ranking. This is a significant addition to the team, as Clark is the No. 55 point guard in his class and the No. 7 overall prospect in the state of Illinois, coming out of Whitney Young High School.
This commitment marks the third for the Vols in just over two weeks, showcasing their consistent and impressive recruitment efforts. The first was four-star small forward Ralph Scott, who committed on September 30 after considering Purdue, Houston, and Texas A&M. Scott, a 6-foot-8, 185-pound native of Bermuda, attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and is ranked No. 57 overall in the country. He is also the No. 22 small forward and the No. 7 prospect in the state of Florida.
The second commitment was made by 6-foot-6, 205-pound small forward Manny Green on October 10. Green, a four-star prospect from Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia, is ranked No. 104 nationally, No. 37 at small forward, and No. 5 in the state of Georgia. He chose Tennessee over Auburn and Georgia Tech, among others.
Looking ahead, Tennessee Basketball is gearing up for what could be its biggest recruiting weekend of the year. The Vols will host five-star point guard Derron Rippey Jr., four-star guard Jasiah Jervis, and five-star small forward Christian Collins. These players are highly ranked, with Rippey Jr. at No. 13 nationally and No. 2 point guard in the class, Jervis at No. 39 in the class and No. 8 shooting guard, and Collins at No. 8 nationally and No. 3 small forward.
Additionally, Tennessee has signed the No. 9 class in 2025, adding three players from the NCAA Transfer Portal: former Maryland point guard Ja'Kobi Gillespie, former Louisiana Tech guard Amaree Abram, and former Vanderbilt forward Jaylen Carey. The Vols' 2025 signing class was ranked No. 9 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC with a class score of 92.99. The team has added five-star small forward Nate Ament (No. 2 overall), four-star guard Amari Evans (No. 68), four-star center Dewayne Brown (No. 96), three-star point guard Troy Henderson (No. 261), and three-star guard Clarence Massamba (No. 262).
